The Merit Protection Commissioner is an independent statutory office holder providing employment services to the Australian Public Service and the Parliamentary Service. The current Commissioner is Ms Linda Waugh. The Commissioner is assisted by staff of the Australian Public Service Commission.
We review employees’ concerns about matters affecting their employment, such as recruitment, discipline (misconduct) and performance management. We also provide recruitment and inquiry services to agencies. We support the integrity and good practice in employment decision-making.
We publish tip sheets which provide information to APS and Parliamentary Services employees on promotion reviews and provide guidance to Departments/Agencies on people management issues which are common themes in our review casework.
We also publish review case summaries which are updated regularly.
